6 Misconceptions about Blinds and Shades
Aug 17th 2020
Buying window treatments can be overwhelming. Blinds and shades have numerous benefits to a room and home but some homeowners may be weary of a few ideas that may not be entirely true. Here is a list of common misconceptions about blinds and shades.
6 Misconceptions about Blinds and Shades
1. Blinds and shades are difficult to clean.
Blinds and shades are easy to maintain and don't require extensive cleaning. Most window treatments simply require being wiped down a couple times a week. A feather duster or rag, depending on the specific blind or shade, will be more than enough remove and dust or dirt. However, blinds and shades such as wood blinds or mini blinds, might have to be taken off their mounts or cleaned with stronger cleaning products.
2. Installation is a difficult and a hassle.
Installing your blind or shade is less complicated than you may think. Only a few basic tools are needed from start to finish. Most blind and shades are lightweight enough to be installed by one person. Also, if you are having difficulties, many installation guides and videos are available on the internet to help you each step of the way.
3. Customization can be expensive.
You are able to get what you want in a window treatment for a reasonable price. Many retailers offer customization without any added fees or costs. Blinds and shades are no longer expensive due to modern technology and production. Window treatments can be budget friendly and affordable for anyone.
4. Window blinds and shades have little functional use in a home.
This could not be further from the truth. Besides the obvious of blocking incoming light and controlling light into a room, blinds and shades are able to keep your home colder in the summer and warmer in the winter. They can help reduce your energy bill and electricity bill while also making your home more energy efficient.
5. Operating window treatments are cumbersome and tedious.
It is true that some blinds and shades need to be manually opened, closed, or adjusted, however, with technology these window treatments can be moved automatically. For example, the Rollease Pulse 2 (see below) and accompanying app can move the blinds and shades to your desired schedule or automatically based on the sun's position.
6. Blinds and shades won't be able to fit large windows or abnormally shaped windows.
Window treatments are able to fit any window, regardless of shape or size. A large or oddly shaped window is no excuse to not have a blind or shade.
