How to Change the Direction of a Roller Shade
Changing the direction of a roller shade can be completed easily and quickly. Changing the direction of a roller shade means that if a roller shade unrolls from the back, it will roll from the front and vice-versa. However, it is important to know that some roller shade fabrics have two different looking sides. Whether that be a the design and colors are reversed or that the design and colors are completely different, it is important to make sure you know what the roller shade will look like after it is flipped.
Most roller shades are standard roll or back roll. This is when the fabric rolls off the back of the tube and the fabric is closer to the window than to the room when unrolled. This style is popular because it provides the best insulation and light control while allowing for maximum privacy when the shade is rolled completely down.
If the roller shade is not standard roll, it is reversed roll or front rolled. This roll means the fabric rolls in the front and is closer to the room. Although this style hides the hardware of the shade, there are large gaps between the window itself and the fabric that can not provide adequate privacy or temperature/light control. To change from one roll to the other requires no special tools and can be done in minutes! If you are experiencing telescoping, it may be a good idea to fix that issue before you try to change the direction. Our guide can be found here.

- Put both ends on the opposite side of other tube. So take the end plug and place it in the end of the tube where the clutch was and place the clutch end on the side where the end plug was.
- Make sure the plugs are completely inline and flush. You can lightly tap this with the bottom end of a screwdriver or pliers. Reinsert the shade into the brackets. The shade will now roll from the opposite side!
