Cordless Blind Won't Go Up

Cordless blinds are rising in popularity due to how effective and safe they are. They offer a clean sleek look while being able to operate without any strings or cords. Cordless blinds are also preferable for households with small children and pets. Cordless blinds can be available as cellular shades, roller shades, or faux wood blind shades. This guide will go over some tips on how to fix a cordless blind that will not go up.

A cordless blind that will not go up can be a result of a few things:

  • Internal ribbons have to be untangled

These ribbons are located on the inside of the blind and can sometimes get tangled.

  • Internal motors has to be reset

The motor springs within the blind may have stopped working momentarily. These springs allow the blind to be moved effortlessly.

  • The blind hasn't been moved in awhile

When the blind has been kept in the same position for too long, the motor within the cordless blind may not work and will need to be activated.

For cordless cellular shades and cordless roman blinds lower the shade as much as possible. Once you've reached this point, pull the blind toward you at a 45º angle. Give he blind a few tugs at this position and the springs should start working like new.

For cordless horizontal blinds, place both hands on the sides of the blind and pull the blind down. Lift the blind back up while using a back and forth zig-zag motion. You may have to repeat this a few time to get the blind's mechanism working again.

Cordless roller shades that won't go up can be resolved in a few simple steps. Remove one end of the shade from the bracket. Spin the shade as many times with the spring in the bracket. The spinning will add more tension to the shade. Place the shade back into the bracket and the shade should be able to be lifted normally.

Regardless of which type of cordless blind you have, you only need to do a few simple steps to get it operating correctly again!
