Replace a Bead Chain on a Roller Shade Clutch

Replacing the bead chain on a roller shade clutch is one of the easiest roller shade repairs. We will go over how to replace the chain on a clutch in this guide. 

1. Remove the clutch from the shade. 
2. Once the clutch is removed, flip the clutch in your hand so that the gears are facing up at your and the outside of the clutch is facing your hand. 
3. Take the bead chain and loop it through the bottom of the clutch and around the drive post.
4. Carefully place the chain into the gears and pull on the chain gently to rotate the bead through the clutch. 
5. Pull until the bead chain is wrapped completely around the clutch. To test the clutch, pull on the chain from either end. The chain should move smoothly around the clutch.

After you've done these steps, simply place the clutch back into the shade and you now how a working roller shade again!
