Replacing Blind Tilt Mechanism
The blind tilt mechanism is used to . We will go over how to remove and replace the tilt mechanism so that your wood blind or faux wood blind will function properly. The tilt mechanism is responsible for controlling the slats on your blind. This movement effects how the light control on the blinds. Typically, blind have either a cord or wand tilt mechanism. This guide will cover both types.
Replacing Cord Tilt Mechanism
- Carefully remove the entire blind from the window.
- If you have end caps on your blind, remove them.
- While looking into the headrail, locate the metal rod. Slide this rod over to clear it from the tilt mechanism. Be sure to not move the blind around as the rod may slide out or move around.
- Cut the cords right about the tassel to begin removing the cord tilt.
- Undo the tilt mechanism from inside the headrail. To undo the tilt mechanism, you should just have to "unsnap" it from the headrail.
- Take new cords from the new tilt mechanism and slide it through the bottom of the headrail. Securely place the mechanism into the headrail.
- Slide the metal rod through the new tilt mechanism.
- Take the cords and pull them through the tassels and knot them to secure them.
- Replace the end caps on the headrail and reinstall the blind.
- Test the blind's new tilt mechanism to ensure it is working properly.
Replacing Wand Tilt Mechanism
- Locate the top of the wand tilt mechanism and slide the sleeve up and then lift and twist off the hook to undo the wand.
- Carefully remove the entire blind from the window.
- If you have end caps on your blind, remove them.
- While looking into the headrail, locate the metal rod. Slide this rod over to clear it from the tilt mechanism. Be sure to not move the blind around as the rod may slide out or move around.
- Undo the tilt mechanism from inside the headrail. To undo the tilt mechanism, you should just have to "unsnap" it from the headrail.
- Securely place the new mechanism into the headrail.
- Slide the metal rod through the new tilt mechanism.
- Replace the end caps on the headrail and reinstall the blind and reattach the wand.
- Test the blind's new tilt mechanism to ensure it is working properly.
