How to Remove Mini Blinds from Brackets

Sometimes, you may need to remove mini blinds from your window to thoroughly clean them or to remove accumulated dirt and dust that you couldn't clean if the mini blinds were installed. Our guide step-by-step guide below will explain how to remove mini blinds from their brackets. Note: This is a general guide. Be sure to reference any instruction guides or specific manufacturer's directions.

  1. Raise the blinds all the way up. This will make removing them easier and less susceptible to damaging them. (Use a ladder if you need one.)
  2. If a valence, cornice board, or other cover is present, remove it or snap it off. Press down on the clips and snap the cover forward to free it
  3. One bracket should be on either end of the mini blinds. They may be either hinged brackets or sliding brackets. Check this by trying to slide the front of the bracket. If it slides, it is a sliding bracket. Otherwise, it may be a hinged bracket.
  4. Undo the brackets. Remove the middle brackets first and then the brackets on the side.
  5. If you have hinged brackets, open them with a small tool or your hands. The opening should be near the bottom of the bracket. Press up on the bracket. This should allow the front panel to open up.
  6. If you have sliding panels, push the panels with your hands or a small tool. Press and slide the panel away from the wall until it pops out.
  7. Once the brackets are open, slide the blinds out the brackets. If the blinds are large or heavy, ask someone else to help you remove them.
